Us Is Now

Butterfly of Love

Each morning I attempt to dissect the butterfly of love
My rusty tweezers of logic pinching and pulling.
Love isn’t blind
It’s just squinting at the dazzling sun.
It falls on the heavy masks we wear
Illuminating the lies and confirming the truth
And I surrender to this absurd dance the universe has prepared for us.
My ego is judge and jury
In this rigged trial of life
Can’t be won but maybe escaped
All I’m sure of… will last forever, what I’m not, will fade away.
Love isn’t a scorecard but a bottomless well of possibility
It washes away the sands that chafe our soft bellies
I dare us…
Fling open the windows and feel the playful breeze on our open hearts dancing in the winter sun
